Private Messages are a way in which members can send messgaes to a specific member without posting the message on an open forum. The private messages work simular to an e-mail.

You have several options and ways of using our Private Messages and this topic will explain them for you.

INBOX AND OUTBOX

The inbox is where you can view the messages sent to you from other members and staff on this site.

The outbox is where you can view the messages that you sent to other members and staff on this site.

Both the inbox and outbox should be cleared regularly to help the site run faster and efficently. You can either select specific messages be deleted or you can delete all messages.

Preferences

Under Preferences you can chose to block members, and choose either e-mail notifications or pop-up notifications of getting new private messages.

Blocking Members:

As it says to block specific members you enter in the username of he person you do not wish to recieve messages from. To block messages from everyone put a "*" in the box.

We do not recommend you block all users or any administrator on this site since updates are posted via the pm system by administrators and sometimes it's good to work out issues or RP plots via the pm system.

Notifications:

Members can choose to recieve e-mail notices of new private messages and viewing a pop-up alert box to show whenever there is a new message.

As is standard if you select the e-mail option you will get an e-mail whenever someone sends you a private message.

If you select the alert box a small pop-up box will show when you refresh pages, browse, or login into our site. You can either select to go directly to the message or stay on the page you are viewing and view the message later.

We recommend you say yes to the alert box since not all our forums will clearly notify you of a new private message.

To access your private message you should find a link in the menu. Some forums show that there is either "no pm" or "new pm" buttons. When you click on the button you should either see a box with your username and links to the inbox, new message, and preference.

If you see the forum move but do not see the box scroll to the top of the page.

Another place you can access the pm feature is the icon located in your mini-profile on the left of the posts. If you click on someone elses PM icon you will be able to send that member a private message.

The icon should look something like this:

Sadly Private Messages can NOT be moderated by the site staff so we have no way to tell if someone is harrassing or spamming you via the pm system.

However, the site staff recommends that you save the troublesome and spamming private messages and send a copy to the site staff so we can deal with the member causing problems accordingly. No one should make you uncomfortable and bug you with advertising via our private messages.
