Splitting threads is a function that allows a role-player the ability to continue a plotline through several threads and have it automatically link the journey of the threads together. It's a great thing to have when you've been away for a day and are backreading to find out why you're in point C when you were in point A.
Splitting a thread is a very easy thing to do. Basically you click on the last post (or the post that has your character going off to somewhere else) where it says split.

Next you'll see something that look like this:

This is where you can choose where your split topic will go. You have several options to choose from like posting it in a new thread or to post it in a pm to a player (great for those questions regarding plot points and what not).

And you can choose which forum or board you want your thread to be posted in. (We recommend leaving it alone since the split buttons only appear in the forums where you can split threads in).

You can also choose whether or not you want to Quote the post you are splitting the thread from or not by clicking on the box or unclicking it.
Once you have decided where and how you will post this thread you will be taken to the posting screen where you can name the thread in the subject line like you would if you clicked on New Topic.

When you get it all filled out post it and you should see something like this:

You can see the link to where it was split from at the top of the post. If you click on the link you'll be sent back to the thread from where you split the topic and can trace your character's path back to where it all started from.
Again, if you have questions Ask The Staff.
